Anjum Umrani (she/her) is a 4th year doctoral candidate in the Race and Intergroup Dynamics lab at Saint Louis University. Anjum's research interests primarily focus on identifying interventions that can be implemented early in development to prevent youth of color from experiencing the deleterious impacts of racism. As such, Anjum's dissertation project aims to determine the effectiveness of an ACT intervention designed to help Black girls (ages 15-17 years) navigate experiences of appropriated racial oppression. Additionally, Anjum collaborates with researchers in the UK and across Asia to identify barriers to youth education and help create informative materials for organizations that help youth process experiences of child sexual abuse and trauma. Clinically, Anjum's work primarily centers children, adolescents, and transitional age youth. In her free time, Anjum enjoys taking walks, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and trying different restaurants and coffee shops.
